Ethiopian economy exhibits remarkable performance during concluded fiscal year: Finance Ministry
Addis Ababa, September 2, 2021 (FBC) – Addressing the media through biweekly briefing session of the Office of the Prime Minister, State Finance State Minister Eyob Tekalign (PhD) said that the Ethiopian economy has exhibited remarkable performance during the concluded 2020/2021 fiscal year. The economy remained resilient and maintained a promising path in several aspects, he noted.
Despite multiple shocks resulting from the coronavirus pandemic, the locust invasion and security challenges that the country faced in its northern part, the economy has stayed on course.
He attributed the performance to the broad based economic reform the country has been implementing over the past years following the launch of the homegrown economic program.
Macroeconomic stabilization has been unlocking potentials for a long term sustainable economic development.
On the macro front, the country has implemented deep reforms in areas such as the private sector development and job creation.
The country has registered 6.1 pct economic growth despite the global economic slowdown, he underlined.
