Minister of Peace holds talks with heads of regional states’ security organs

Addis Ababa, January 16, 2020 (FBC) –Minister of Peace, Muferihat Kamil, held talks with heads of security organs of regional states.

The discussion mainly focused on the implementation manual of the Independent Advisory Group and National Voluntary Community Service Program.

Muferihat said at the meeting that an Independent Advisory Group is a voluntary group comprising of voluntary members recruited from the community.

The main task of the Group is to share the knowledge and experience they have to police so as to carry out successful crime prevention activities, she added.

Muferihat further stated that group is tasked to set directions and forward solution after gathering information that helps to pre-empt crimes.

Independent Advisory Group also helps to build the public’s trust in police and increase the responsibilities of police and the community, the Minister said.

As far as National Voluntary Community Service Program is concerned, she noted several awareness raising campaigns were carried out to begin the program.

According to her, unemployed university graduate students are applying to join the program.
