Addis Ababa wins Int’l Vision Zero for Youth Leadership award 2021

Addis Ababa, May 27, 2021 (FBC) – Addis Ababa has been granted with the International Vision Zero For Youth Leadership Award 2021 for taking bold steps in reaching zero traffic deaths among children and youth.

The Vision Zero Youth Award is given to cities manage to succeed in reaching zero traffic deaths through effective measures that focus at ensuring safety of children and youth in traffic management activity.

The screening for the award has been carried out by the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) in collaboration with Federation Internationale de I’Automobile (FIA).

Addis Ababa is said to have implemented effective road management strategy on use of walkways and highways, built speed regulators on streets near to schools and staged regular awareness creation events to protect children and youths from traffic accident.
