Ethiopia ramping up mega projects through effective management: PM Abiy
Addis Ababa, May 21, 2021 (FBC) – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed stated that the Ethiopia is ramping up mega projects through effective management as part of its prosperity drive.
Fast-tracking to completion stalled mega projects that were draining national resources and implementing new ones in short time frames has been the hallmark of this administration’s vision for prosperity, the Premier noted.
Construction of GERD completed 80pct, the premier explained, adding that the hydro dam will generate more than 5,150 MW of electricity up on its completion.
Construction of the Koysha dam located near Gibe River with capacity of 2,160 Megawatt is accelerating while Aisha and Assela wind Turbines and Tulu Moye and Aluto Langano geothermal power plants are well underway in line with increasing the country’s energy supply.
Unity, Entoto and Sheger parks have been set up to enhance urban tourism and create jobs. The Gorgora, Koysha and Wonchi special projects in three regions of the country are being carried out as part of the national greenery and beutification and tourism promotion efferts, the Prime Minister added.
Ethiopian Airlines is executing an expansion project at Bole International Airport which will increase current capacity of accommodating 6.5 million passengers per year to 25 million customers to a year.
The 4 Billion Birr project named Adwa 0 meter is well underway in the capital Addis Ababa, according to the Prime Minister.
