Ethiopia-Sudan Rail Project Joint Committee meeting underway in Khartoum
Addis Ababa, May 18, 2021 (FBC) – The Ethio-Sudan Rail Project Joint Committee meeting kicked of yesterday in Khartoum involving participation of diplomats and officials of the two countries.
Sudanese Deputy Transport Minister, Mohammed Beshir, among other officials, were in attendance of the meeting.
Addressing the meeting, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ethiopia to the Sudan, Yibeltal Aemro said the railway transport link is instrumental to speed up regional economic integration.
“The Ethio-Sudan Railway project will have a paramount significance in facilitating socio economic interconnection between countries of the region besides cementing ties between the two brotherly countries” he added.
Mohammed Beshir, the Sudanese Deputy Transport Minister, to his part, said railway is an affordable means of cargo transportation that would help facilitate transboundary trade and investment pledging his commitment for effective implementation of the project.
