Religious leaders extend Easter message, urge faithful to help the displaced
Addis Ababa, May 1, 2021 (FBC) – While extending Easter message, religious leaders urge Christians to help internally displaced people and others in need.
Patriarch of Ethiopian Orthodox Church, His Grace Abune Mathias called upon Christians to care for people displaced from their homes due to conflicts and sheltered in several places across the country.
The Patriarch urged followers to share foods, drinks and clothing with those who are need during the festival.
Helping the needy is a sacred deed that best enables to share joy of the festivity among one another, His Grace stressed.
The head of the Ethiopian Catholic Church, His Eminence Cardinal Berhaneyesus Suraphel, to his part, called on the faithful to assist the needy who are left helpless while observing the Holy Easter.
Cardinal also urged followers to adhere to COVID 19 control and prevention rules set by the government.
Secretary General of Ethiopian Gospel Believers’ Churches, Father Dereje Jemberu also maintain compassionate deeds and love one another thereby translate teachings of Jesus Christ into practice.
