Active participation of citizens key to ensure democratic system: PM Abiy

Addis Ababa, April 27, 2021 (FBC) – Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed stressed the role of active participation of citizens to ensure democratic system.

“Citizens shall ensure their active participation through various engagements particularly during times of election,” he stressed.

Besides getting registered for the election, citizens are expected to contribute to transparent and credible electoral process by participating in civic society organizations, the premier said.

People can monitor the voters’ registration, election campaigns, and voting process, and assist security forces in addressing potential pre and post election violence.
