Seedlings preparation underway to commence 3rd Green Legacy campaign: PM

Addis Ababa, March 14, 2021 (FBC) –The third Green Legacy campaign will be held in the coming rainy season, which runs from the beginning of June to end of August.

In a twitter post, the Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said that preparation of seedlings is underway to commence the campaign in the rainy season.

The Ministry of Agriculture recently said that preparation of 8 billion seedlings is underway at about 40,000 nurseries.

Of the total, 6 billion seedlings will be planted at a national level, 1 billion for neighbouring countries, while the remaining one billion is a reserve.

The government has allocated 60 million birr for the campaign.

The country planted 5 billion and 4 billion seedlings in the second and first Green Legacy campaign, respectively.
