Addis Ababa city to replace over 10,000 Lada taxi cars with new ones

Addis Ababa, February 17, 2021 (FBC) –The Addis Ababa transport authority said it has finalized preparations to replace 10,500 blue and white Lada taxi cars by new ones.

The authority today signed an agreement with associations to replace the Lada taxi, which are older than 50 years.

According to Engineer Sitotaw Akal, head of Addis Ababa transport bureau, the Commercial Bank of Ethiopia (CBE) had made available 6 billion birr loan for the associations.

The new taxi cars will resume services within the coming four months, it was noted.
