Participation of women in politics key to strengthen federal system: Speaker

Addis Ababa, January 23, 2021 (FBC) –Speaker of the House of Federation (HoF) Adem Farah has called for more participation of women in politics to strengthen Ethiopia’s federal system.

The Speaker made the call at a consultative forum on Ethiopia’s federal system organized for political parties and other stakeholders in Adama city, Oromia regional state.

Although Ethiopia’s Constitution guarantees equal political participation for all citizens, the partaking of women in both houses and political parties is still law, he said in his opening remark.

According to the Speaker, developing the democratic culture of women has a key role to strengthen the federal system in Ethiopia.
