No planned demonstration for today, says Council
Addis Ababa, December 27, 2019 (FBC) – The Ethiopian Islamic Affairs Supreme Council (EIASC) said “there is no planned demonstration for today.”
The Council made the remark after circulation of false social media posts claiming that demonstrations have been planned for today by Muslim community to protest attacks on religious institutions in Motta, Amhara regional state.
“Any demonstration is not authorized by the Ethiopian Islamic Affairs Supreme Council,” said Haji Sheikh Kasim Tajudin, Secretary of the Council.
He urged the Muslim community to maintain Ethiopia’s age-long tradition of religious respect and tolerance.
