INVEA inaugurates border control point at Ethio-Kenya border
Addis Ababa, January 17, 2021 (FBC) –The Ethiopian Immigration, Nationality, and Vital Events Agency (INVEA) yesterday inaugurated the Nepremus Immigration Border Control Point (BCP).
The BCP, which is located 1.5 kms from the border with Kenya, in an area known as IIemi Triangle, was built with support from the International Organization for Migration (IOM).
Director General of INVEA Mujib Jemal, federal and regional states officials, traditional elders, invited guests and other community members attended the event.
Mujib said the opening of the border point would help to ease the daily activities of the residents, combat human trafficking and create employment opportunities.
According to the Director General, INVEA will soon build and inaugurate border control points in Gambella, Benishangul Gumuz and Somali regional states.
IOM was recognized for supporting the strengthening of migration management in Ethiopia.
