First Lady Office inaugurates secondary school in east Shoa zone
Addis Ababa, January 11, 2021 (FBC) – Ifa Liben, a secondary school built by Office of the First Lady at a cost of 20 million birr in east Shoa zone of Oromia regional state was inaugurated today.
First Lady Zinash Tayachew, Chief Administrator of Oromia regional state, Shimeles Abdissa and Head of Oromia Education Bureau, Dr Tola Beriso, attended the inauguration of the school.
The school, which was built in Liben Chikuala woreda, Gongo kebele, took one year for completion and will start enrolling 220 students this Ethiopian academic year.
However, the school can house 1, 300 students in a single shift when it commences operation with full capacity, according to Office of the First Lady.
In addition to handing over the school to the regional state, the First Lady donated school uniforms, bags and thermometers to the students.
Office of the First Lady has so far built and handed over five schools, including Ifa Liben, to regional states.
It has also completed the construction of 8 more schools in various parts of the country and will soon transfer them to respective regional states, the office noted.
The schools were built in Dubti (Afar), Anuak zone (Gambella), Asossa and Metekel zones (Benishangul Gumuz), Jigjiga zone kebeles 02 & 06 (Somali), Debark town and Waghimra zone (Amhara).
