Ethiopian police commissioners meet in Bishoftu town
Addis Ababa, January 11, 2021 (FBC) –The 12th joint meeting of federal, regional and city administrations’ police commissioners has been opened in Bishoftu town, Oromia regional state.
The two-day conference was opened with remarks by Chief Administrator of Oromia regional state, Shimeles Abdissa, and Federal Police Commissioner General, Demelash Gebremichael.
The meeting will see presentation of research paper on problems regarding the structural organization, promotion and naming of ranks within the federal police.
The meeting will also deliberate on problems related to quality and supply of police uniforms as well as on the 10-year strategic plan of the Federal Police Commission.
In his opening remarks, Demelash said the meeting is aimed at building capacity of the police forces, besides exchanging views on how to address challenges.
Chief Administrator of Oromia regional state, Shimeles Abdissa for his part said the role of police is immense to maintain rule of law and ensure equality of people.
Participants are expected to discuss on current security issues and preparations for the upcoming 6th general election of Ethiopia.
