Derartu Tulu elected President of Ethiopian Athletics Federation
Addis Ababa, December 15, 2020 (FBC) – Africa’s first women Olympic gold medalist, athlete Derartu Tulu has elected as the president of Ethiopian Athletics Federation.
Twenty seven out of twenty eight members of the Federation voted for her so that she will be leading the Federation for the next four years. She has been serving as vice-president for the past two years. .
Her first victory in Barcelona entered Olympic legend when she beat Elena Meyer in an iconic race at South Africa’s first Games appearance since the end of apartheid.
