National Army always upholds moral character, values: Maj.-Gen Yilma Merdasa
Addis Ababa, November 25, 2020 (FBC) – Chief of the Ethiopian Air force, Maj.-Gen Yilma Merdasa said that the National army of Ethiopia has always upheld moral character and values, being highly regarded and considered exemplary across the globe.
In an interview related to the ongoing government’s law enforcement measures in Tigray, Maj.-Gen Yilma said that taking control of Axum, Adwa and Adigrat helps to conclude the law enforcement operations effectively.
So far all of the State’s major cities and towns, except the capital, Mekelle, have already been taken over by the Defense Forces, he said.
Maj.-Gen Yilma urged residents of Mekelle city to show allegiance to the National Defense Forces and exert influence on the ring-leaders of the extremist and criminal TPLF junta to surrender peacefully.
“The people know how disciplined our Defense troops are because the troops have lived for more than twenty-two, twenty-three years amongst them. Our national army has always upheld moral character and values, being highly regarded & considered exemplary across the globe.” he stressed.
He added “The treacherous assault on the Northern Command of the Ethiopian Army in Mekelle was masterminded by a handful of the TPLF mafia leadership. This fascistic act has never won the acceptance of Tigray residents unlike what the TPLF wished. In fact, most of the region’s residents have been expressing their disappointment strongly time and again.”
Maj.-Gen Yilma also underlined saying “I do not think the extremist group will surrender. It seems like the leadership of the bandit group has resorted to mobilize the general community to fight against the law enforcement body until the fall of Mekelle in the hands of the National Army.”
The way they destroyed the Axum International Airport, several road facilities and so on while on the run are a showcase that they have no concern for the people of Tigray, according to Maj.-Gen Yilma.
“No regime lives forever; all are temporary but infrastructure must stay for generations to come. The junta doesn’t have an iota of care about the Tigray people in whose name it continues to pose danger to the country. Worse still, the clique has deliberately cultivated animosity among the people.”, noted the Major General.
This force has only been engaged in acts meant to dismantle the country. The national defense force has been undertaking efforts to further maintain peace and stability in unison across the nation through operating the law enforcement and order repeating the forefather’s heroic acts.
Defeat is knocking on the doors of the TPLF and the junta is well aware of it. Hence, it is trying to internationalize the situation by claiming that foreign forces are involved.
The law enforcement operation is crucial to ensure peace and safeguard civilians while isolating and prosecuting the faction that has been threatening nation at large.
Technically, the government has scored a remarkable achievement against the junta in safeguarding historic sites and other sensitive areas.
“The TPLF propaganda machines have been busy telling the world that foreign bodies are helping the Ethiopian government to the point of supplying high-tech drones. I would like to make it clear that our air force is well trained and equipped with the highest moral values.” he underscored.
The TPLF committed treachery against the Northern Command of these well reputed National Defense Forces.
“Ethiopia has never invited any foreign country to get involved in the military campaign as it is capable of dismantling the TPLF on its own.” Maj.-Gen Yilma stressed.
This is a clear indicator that the junta has failed to fight the defense forces and is in disarray, its tactic repeatedly failing and losing momentum.
According to the Ethiopian State of Emergency Fact Check, Maj.-Gen Yilma further underscored that the extremist group of TPLF is very dangerous and will leave no stone unturned to inflict damage on the people of Tigray, the people of Ethiopia and as a whole to the horn of Africa peace and security. And therefore, must be removed soon.
