Djibouti fully supports unity, territorial integrity of Ethiopia, President Ismail Omar Guelleh
Addis Ababa, November 17, 2020 (FBC) – The President of the Republic, His Excellency Ismail Omar Guelleh, received on Monday at the Palais de la République, an emissary of Ethiopian Prime Minister, Gedu andargachew.
President Ismail Omar Guelleh and Gedu Andargachew, a pecial advisor to Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed for Security Affairs exchanged views on the current situation in Ethiopia pertaining to government’s law enforcement actions against the TPLF Junta.
Djibouti Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mahamoud Ali Youssouf, and Ambassador of Ethiopia to the Republic of Djibouti Birhanu Tsegaye also participated in the meeting.
At the end of this hearing, the Government of Djibouti issued, through its Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, an official statement of which follows the entirety.
′′ The Republic of Djibouti is following with great concern the situation of internal conflict in Ethiopia since 4 November 2020, an armed conflict between Ethiopian national defence forces and TPLF in the Tigray region.”, indicates the statement.
“Djibouti fully supports the unity and territorial integrity of the Federal and Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.”, the statement stressed.
Similarly, the Djibouti Government reaffirmed that Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali’s government is the only guarantor of this unity and the territorial integrity of Ethiopia.
On the other hand, Djibouti is calling for a peaceful resolution of this internal crisis in Ethiopia under the leadership of His Excellency Abiy Ahmed, the Prime Minister of Ethiopia, says the statement.
Finally, Djibouti expresses its availability to support, if necessary, efforts aimed at the peaceful resolution of the situation.
