Benishangul takes actions against forces engaged in acts of terrorism

Addis Ababa, October 8, 2020 (FBC) –The Benishangul Gumuz regional state peace building and security bureau said it has taken actions against 14 forces of destruction.

The actions were taken against those who have been engage in acts of terrorism in Dangure woreda, Metekel zone, said Gashu Dugaz, head of the bureau.

Five Kalashnikova (AK-47) riffles and 10 obsolete weapons were also seized during a joint operation conducted by the Defence Force, federal police and the regional state’s special force.

Gashu indicated that 14 civilians, including a foreigner, were killed in the attacks carried out in Dangur woreda two days ago.

The regional state recently removed a total of 45 heads from their position for failing to fulfil their responsibility to stop conflicts occurring in Metekel zone.

According to Gashu, works are also underway to return to their places of origin those community members displaced from different woredas of the zone.
