Addis Ababa to Host Greater Southern Fair for Endogenous Technology
Addis Ababa, July 22, 2024 (FBC) – Ethiopia’s Ministry of Innovation and Technology (MInT) has announced that the Greater Southern Fair for Technology (GreSFET) will take place from September 28 to October 4, 2024. This event will feature participation from over 28 countries.
The tech fair will be organized by the Ministry in collaboration with the Organization of Southern Cooperation (OSC).
To promote the upcoming event, the Ministry and OSC held a briefing for the ambassadors of OSC member countries about GreSFET.
During the occasion, Minister of State for Innovation and Technology Baysa Bedada stated that the event will serve as a platform where technology and innovation experts from various member countries can come together and exchange experiences.
In his remarks, Manssour Bin Mussallam, Secretary-General of the Southern Cooperation Organization, emphasized the importance of supporting indigenous technologies, saying that by doing so, we should be the creators of the industrial revolution and technology producers, in addition to being technology buyers and users.
The fair will be held from September 28 to October and it is a fair where selected endogenous technologies from OSC’s 28 member countries, including Ethiopia, will be presented and promoted.
The fair will be attended by more than 28 countries and affiliated organizations. It is learned that at least three indigenous technology products from each member country will be presented, and more than 100 technology experts will be on display.
It was also said that ministers and other senior government officials of the member countries of the Southern Cooperation Organization will be present at the event.
GreSFET is also expected to create favorable conditions for research institutions, universities, private researchers, and other sections of society to contribute to the development of their country.
