Oromia, Afar launch $28m school-feeding program
Addis Ababa, February 26, 2020 (FBC) –The Ministry of Education (MoE) has launched a four-year school-feeding program with $28 million in Oromia and Afar regional states.
The program to be implemented in partnership with the World Food Program (WFP) and US Department of Agriculture (USDA) will benefit 677, 247 school children.
School feeding programs implemented earlier assisted efforts to increase enrolment and reduce drop-out, said Yasabu Birkneh, School Improvement Program Director at MoE.
WFP in partnership with the US Department of Agriculture invested over $54 million over the past 10 year to provide assistance to close to 3 million school children.
