2nd round of humanitarian aid provision continues in conflict-affected areas: EDRMC
Addis Ababa, December 30, 2022 (FBC) – The Ethiopian Disaster Risk Management Commission (EDRMC) indicated that the second round of humanitarian aid supply is being provided to conflict-affected citizens in the northern part of the country.
Commissioner of EDRMC, Shiferaw Tekle-Mariam, said in a statement that the first round of humanitarian assistance planned in Amhara, Afar and Tigray regions has successfully been delivered.
In the first round of humanitarian aid supply, 141,671 metric tons of food was transported to all the three regions, the Official confirmed.
In the second round, 25,000 MT of grain has been transported to Amhara region, 2,000 MT to Afar region, and more than 1,000 MT to Tigray region, he said.
The Commissioner mentioned that this is 20 percent of the planned aid supply in the second round, indicating that activities to provide the remaining humanitarian aid will also continue.
Shiferaw stated that the humanitarian aid is being provided in four corridors, recalling that the rebuilding of the conflict affected infrastructures and installations is being undertaken under the supervision of the Committee of Ministers.
According to EDRMC’s post on Twitter, the second round of humanitarian aid supply is scheduled from December 20, 2022 to February 2, 2023.
