269 investors with $3.4bn capital received investment license: EIC
Addis Ababa, August 7, 2023 (FBC) – The Ethiopian Investment Commission (EIC) announced that 269 investors who registered a capital of 3.4 billion US dollars received investment licenses and started operations in the 2022/23 Ethiopian financial year.
The Commission revealed the data while presenting its annual performance review for the 2022/23 fiscal year in the presence of the Ministry of Planning and Development and other stakeholders.
According to the Chief Commissioner of EIC, Lelise Neme, agriculture, manufacturing industry, mining and information technology are the sectors in which foreign investors have widely engaged in.
The Commissioner pointed out that the “Invest Ethiopia” international investment promotion forum brought together more than 1 thousand participants from 29 countries across the world where EIC signed agreements with companies with a capital of 1.6 billion US dollars.
During the 2022/23 fiscal year, 71 projects in the manufacturing sector, 22 projects in the service sector and one project in the agricultural sector have been started, she said.
Lelise mentioned that 148.3 million US dollars worth of products were exported from these sectors.
On the other hand, more than 67 thousand job opportunities have been created and 3 private industrial parks are under construction, she noted.
