Over 2.3 mln voters registered for Sidama referendum
Addis Ababa, November 18, 2019 (FBC) –More than 2.3 million people have registered to vote in Sidama referendum, according to the National Electoral Board of Ethiopia (NEBE).
This was revealed today by Birtukan Mideksa, Chairperson of NEBE, in a press conference she issued following the end of voters’ registration.
The registration process was conducted peacefully and successfully as a result of the joint efforts of local security forces, federal police and national army, she said.
According to her, more than 6,000 election officials were deployed in 1,692 polling stations established in the Sidama zone.
The Sidama referendum will take place on Wednesday, November 20, 2019.
