Ethiopia, Czech hold business forum in Addis Ababa
Addis Ababa, November 14, 2019 (FBC) – The Ethio- Czech business forum and business to business (B2B) meeting was held at the Hilton Addis yesterday.
The forum was organized by the Addis Ababa Chamber of Commerce and Embassy of the Czech Republic, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
More than 75 Ethiopian and Czech companies have participated in the forum that aims at attracting foreign direct (FDI) investment and strengthening business linkages.
In his opening remark, Ethiopia’s State Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Aklilu Hailemichael said conducting such kinds of forums will help further strengthen the economic and political relations between the two countries.
Dr. Aklilu also noted some points that can make Ethiopia a favorite destination for investment, trade and tourism.
The State Minister said Ethiopia eyes in attracting FDI and he urged Czech business persons to invest in the Ethiopian government priority areas for investment- agriculture, agro-processing, tourism and information technology sectors.
The Czech Republic Foreign Affairs Minister Tomáš Petříček for his part said “the business Forum would be indispensable in strengthening the economic linkage between the two countries.”
“It would also be important to cooperate in the energy, agriculture, defense industry, and aviation and information technology sectors,” he added.
“Considering the strong political, economic and cultural relations between the two countries, the level of trade is low,” President of Addis Ababa Chamber of Commerce Mesenbet Shenkute said and “it needs to grow through organizing such business forums.”
