IMF chief reaffirms commitment to support Ethiopia’s reform efforts
Addis Ababa, October 21, 2019 (FBC) –Ethiopia’s Minister of Finance, Ahmed Shide and Governor of the National Bank of Dr Yinager Dessie met with Kristalina Georgieva, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) in Washington DC.
During the discussion, Ahmed briefed the IMF chief about the reform programs being implanted in Ethiopia to bring economic growth and create conducive investment atmosphere for investors.
Kristalina Georgieva for her part assured the officials of IMF’s strong commitment to support Ethiopia’s reform efforts to spur sustainable and inclusive growth.
The Minister of Finance also held talks last week with Ethiopians working in the World Bank Group.
He provided a briefing to the participants regarding the ongoing political, economic and social reform measures in Ethiopia.
The briefing mainly focuses on Diaspora engagement, the commitment of the government in implementing a homegrown economy, ensuring peace and security of the country and integrating the region in various forms.
The participants expressed their unwavering readiness to contribute for the effectiveness of the ongoing reform.
