President Sahle-Work holds talks with her Finnish counterpart
Addis Ababa, October 15, 2019 (FBC) –President Sahle-Work Zewde received her Finnish counterpart Sauli Niinisto at the Presidential Palace this morning.
The two sides discussed bilateral, regional and multilateral issues of common interest between the two countries. The two countries also agreed to increase bilateral trade and investment.
President Sahle-Work requested President Niinistö to encourage Finnish businesses to invest in Ethiopia considering that there are new opportunities for Finnish businesses to engage in Ethiopia.
They also discussed current political, economic and social developments in Ethiopia and the region, issues of migration and refugees as well as climate change
She further told the Finnish delegation about Ethiopia’s role in strengthening regional integration and consolidation of peace and security and the country’s plan to build carbon free economy with its Climate Resilient Green Economy Strategy by 2025.
President Niinisto arrived in Addis Ababa last night for a two-day official visit.
He will deliver remarks at the international conference on climate change and a high-level event on women’s economic empowerment scheduled to take place today.
Moreover, President Niinisto will visit the Finnish Government-funded Hamle 19 Primary School tomorrow.
