Deputy Premier meets with WFP chief
Addis Ababa, October 17, 2019 (FBC) –Deputy Prime Minister Demeke Mekonnen met with Executive Director of the World Food Programme (WFP), David Beasley in Rome Italy.
The two discussed on humanitarian assistance and sustainable development as well as agreed to work together, according to office of the Deputy Prime Minister.
An Ethiopian delegation led by the Deputy Premier arrived in Rome last Tuesday to attend the Ethio-Italy Business Forum.
Speaking at the forum held yesterday, Demeke said the homegrown economic reform agenda which Ethiopia has unveiled recently is aimed at attracting more direct foreign investment (FDI.
He also said the ongoing reform programs will be strengthened to make the investment climate in Ethiopia more attractive to foreign investors.
He called on Ethiopian investors who took part in the forum to use the opportunity to build business networking, while also inviting Italian investors to invest in Ethiopia.
Italy’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Emanuela Del Re, said her government would provide support for the strengthening of economic cooperation between the two countries.
She further said the Italian Government will continue to support the peace efforts in the region and “our companies are ready to contribute to the development of the region.”
Ahead of the forum, the Ethiopian Deputy Prime Minister and Emanuela Del Re also held bilateral talks
