PM office hosts ‘Addis Weg’ roundtable on economic reform
Addis Ababa, August 12, 2019 (FBC) – Office of the Prime Minister hosted ‘Addis Weg’– experts’ roundtable on economic reform today.
Biruk Taye, senior advisor at the Ministry of Finance, Messai Tadesse, founder of Lucy Investment Partners Plc- an investment advisory firm, and Bruck Fikru, from Volcafe Ltd were among the panelists.
Biruk Taye briefed the participants on major reforms undertaken over the past 17 months, including policies realized to tackle problems that need lasting solution, such as inflation, foreign currency shortage and loan repayment.
He also touched on activities carried out to tackle trade bottlenecks and to privatize state-owned enterprises.
In his presentation on opportunities and challenges in financial supplies, the second speaker, Messai Tadesse, called for more works to address problems of financial supply to foreign and local investors as well as social enterprises.
Bruck Fikru from Volcafe Ltd indicated failure in employing global trend during difficulties in export trade.
He further said trade and business laws should take into account not only investors or some members of the society, but also individuals.
