Iodized salt plant inaugurated in Semera, Afar
Addis Ababa, August 19, 2019 (FBC) – An iodized salt plant built by Ethiopian and Turkish investors with 432 million birr inaugurated in Semera, Afar regional state today.
About 66.6% of the construction cost of the plant named SVS was covered by Ethiopians.
The plant, which has the capacity to produce 450,000 quintals of iodize salt per month, created 700 permanent and 200 temporary employment opportunities.
The construction of another plant with the capacity to produce 750,000 quintals per month is also underway in Afdera, Afar at cost of 918 million birr.
The plant is expected to commence production after six months and create 1,400 jobs.
