Relative peace prevails in Hawassa, its environs: Police Commission
Addis Ababa, July 19, 2019 (FBC) – Relative peace has prevailed in the city of Hawassa and its environs, said the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples’ (SNNP) regional state Police Commission.
Police Commissioner Tewodros Woldemichael told FBC today that works are also underway to restore peace in areas affected by the violence.
“Efforts are underway to put under control the violence which started in Hawassa and later spread to the neighboring Sidama woredas (district),” he said.
The Commissioner noted that police have been arresting those individuals who took part in the violence that resulted in the loss of life and properties.
He said investigation is also underway to know the amount of damage caused to properties during the violence.
