President Sahle-Work receives South Korean Foreign Minister
Addis Ababa, July 11, 2019 (FBC) – President Sahle-Work Zewde received the visiting Foreign Minister of South Korea, Kang Kyung-wha at the Presidential Palace today.
The two sides held discussion with on issues of mutual interest and ways forward to further expand the cordial relations of Ethiopia and South Korea.
Kang Kyung-wha on the occasion said Ethiopia has a special place in the heart of South Koreans as Ethiopians fought for their sovereignty during the Korean Peninsula war in 1953.
Mentioning the excellent and cordial relations of Ethiopia and South Korea, President Sahle-Work Zewde appreciated the support of South Korea for Ethiopia’s development endeavors.
She also underscored the need to focus on enhancing the economic engagement to take the relations to the next height, according to office of the President.
Ms. Kang Kyung-wha on her part applauded the transformational changes in Ethiopia and also commended the role of Ethiopia in the region as the main actor for peace initiatives.
“We put Ethiopia on a special place in our heart and are very keen to elevate the relations on every direction. We also appreciate the role of the Ethiopian leadership in the region as it is critical for positive achievements,” she said.
The South Korean Foreign Minister also met yesterday with Prime Minister Dr Abiy Ahmed and her Ethiopian counterpart Gedu Andargachew.
