President, Malala discuss ways to offer better educational options for Ethiopian girls
Addis Ababa, July 15, 2019 (FBC) –President Sahle-Work Zewde met with Malala Yousafzai, a Pakistani activist for female education and the youngest Nobel Prize laureate, at the Presidential Palace last week.
They discussed ways to offer better educational options for girls in Ethiopia, according to office of the President.
The Pakistani activist told the President about Malala Fund, a non-profit organization that fights for girls’ education, and expressed her desire to provide support to prevent girls’ school dropouts in Ethiopia.
President Sahle-Work briefed Malala on the education development roadmap being prepared in Ethiopia to entirely amend the country’s education policy.
The President said the government would create fertile ground for those who want to assist government’s efforts.
The Ethiopian President said school-feeding program and expanding boarding school for girls will play key roles to reduce girls’ school dropouts.
During her visit to Ethiopia, Malala also met with Prime Minister Dr Abiy Ahmed.
