National Defense force to sue individuals, media for defamation
Addis Ababa, July 8, 2019 (FBC) –The National Defense is set to file charges against individuals and media that were engaged in creating distrust between the public and the army.
In a press conference issued on current national issues today, MajGen. Mohammed Tessema, Director General of Indoctrination Director at the Defense Force, said ensuring rule of law is the key mission of the army.
The army had carried out a great job to restore stability following the recent assignations of senior government officials in Addis Ababa and Bahir Dar, to arrest suspects and ensure rule of law, he told journalists.
The army would work jointly with pertinent bodies more than ever before to ensure rule of law and detain those responsible for the killings of the officials, MajGen. Mohammed noted.
He further said preparations have been finalized to sue individuals and media that have been spreading disinformation and engaged in defamation to create divides between the people and the army.
Director General stated that his office had gathered several evidences and information to file charges against these bodies who are striving to deter ongoing efforts to restore durable peace in the country.
