Ministry, Oromia and Metu University to implement joint livestock productivity improving project
Addis Ababa, July 22, 2019 (FBC) –The Ministry of Innovation and Technology, Oromia regional state and the Metu University have signed an agreement to jointly implement a project improving livestock productivity.
The agreement was signed by Minister of Innovation and Technology, Dr-Ing. Getahun Mekurea, Oromia rural development sector head with the rank of Deputy Chief Administrator, Dr Girma Amente and President of Metu University, Tekalegn Kejela.
The project will be implemented in west Oromia of Buno Bedele, Ilu Aba Bora, Jimma and east Wellega zones and mainly focuses on dairy development, fodder production, animal breeding, as well as beef production.
The project is expected to create jobs for 35,000 unemployed youth when it is implemented, it was noted during the signing ceremony.
The Ministry of Innovation and Technology and the Jigjiga University also signed last week an agreement to cooperate in project that helps to improve livestock farm productivity in Somali regional state.
