Amb. Zenebe holds discussions with Swiss private sector
Addis Ababa, June 7, 2019 (FBC) – Ethiopia’s Ambassador to Switzerland, Zenebe Kebede, attended a business event which was jointly organized by the Permanent Mission of Ethiopia in Geneva and the Swiss Africa Business Circle (SABC).
The event was hosted by Schellenberg Wittmer, a leading Swiss Law Firm, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Ambassador Zenebe extended his appreciation to the SABC and underscored the importance of holding similar events to inform the Swiss business community regarding the opportunities available for investment in Ethiopia.
He further stated the longstanding ties that exist between Ethiopia and Switzerland and said ‘this has to be further strengthened in the trade and investment sectors as well’.
Ambassador Zenebe briefed participants on all-wide reforms currently underway in Ethiopia since Prime Minister Dr. Abiy Ahmed has assumed the premiership.
He further alluded to the policy, legal and institutional reforms in general and business sector measures pertaining to ease of doing business, priority areas, built-in incentive mechanisms and facilities made available, in particular.
After a brief introduction by Ambassador Zenebe, the Economic Diplomacy section of the Permanent Mission presented the various business activities and opportunities in Ethiopia.
The event was attended by senior representatives of the business community ranging from machine manufacturers to pharmaceuticals and water treatment.
Tourism, trade and investment, technology transfer were among the subjects deliberated on during Q & A session where participants had a very rich discussion and exchanged views with the Ambassador.
During the meeting, one of the participating companies announced its plan to bring a business delegation comprising of ten business companies in February 2020 to Ethiopia.
