City mayor vows to take stern measures against land grabbing
Addis Ababa, May 23, 2019 (FBC) –Deputy mayor of Addis Ababa city administration, Engineer Takele Uma, has vowed to take actions to prevent land grabbing and construction of illegal houses in the metropolis.
While discussing with stakeholders on related issues today, he said “an organized land grabbing and construction of illegal houses are highly increasing in the city, especially in Bole, Yeka, Kolfe, Nefas Silk and Akaki Kaliti sub-cities.
The key actors in these illegal activities are investors, government officials, and brokers, including groups who have their own political agendas, according to him.
On top of demolishing illegally built houses, those who took part in these illegal activities will face justice, the mayor noted.
He further said the city administration will not tolerate those who will participate in any action that undermine peace.
