Cornerstone laid for construction of €40mln cardiac centre
Addis Ababa, April 29, 2019 (FBC) –A foundation stone has been laid for a cardiac centre to be built in the premises of the Black Lion specialized hospital with a 40 million Euros funding from the Government of the Netherlands.
The center, scheduled for completion within the coming two years, will contribute a lot towards creating favorable condition to make Ethiopia a centre for medical tourism in the Horn of African, said Dr Amir Aman, Minister of Health.
The seven-storey cardiac centre is one of the key projects that Ethiopia has planned to execute to prevent non-communicable disease (NCD). Cancer and kidney transplantation centers will be built at the Black Lion specialized hospital, he added.
The center will have the capacity to perform 500 surgeries, 1,600 catheterization lab diagnoses, and 500 catheterization lab interventions when it goes operational.
