FAO committed to support Ethiopia’s move to ensure food security: DG
Addis Ababa, February 11, 2019 (FBC) –President Sahle-Work Zewde today received José Graziano da Silva, Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO).
The two sides discussed on the existing partnership between Ethiopia and FAO.
The Director-General said FAO is committed to offer support to Ethiopia’s move to ensure food security and modernize the agricultural sector.
Ensuring food security is a priority for Ethiopia, President Sahle-Work said, further urging the Organization to scale-up its support based on the demand and in line with the country’s policy.
Earlier, the Director General also met with Ethiopia’s Minister of Agriculture Oumer Hussein to discuss on food safety as well as youth employment and empowerment in Africa.
