About 15 individuals suspected of carrying out assassination arrested
Addis Ababa, December 24, 2018 (FBC) –Security officials have arrested 15 individuals suspected of carrying out assassination in Oromia regional state.
They have been operating under a group name called ‘Abaa Torbee’, according to the regional state’s communication bureau.
They were arrested in a joint operation carried out by the National Intelligence and Security Service (NISS) and security officials, the bureau said.
The suspects have been assassinating civilians, government officials and members of the security forces, the bureau indicated.
Among the suspects, Gadisa Negasa Chala, Merga Tefera Bulchu and Anisa Getachew, were accused of coordinating the assassination of civilians in Dembidolo, Nekempt and North Shoa zone.
Various pistols, hand grenades and weapons were also seized, the bureau said.
The suspects were arrested in the capital Addis Ababa and they came here to assassinate senior government officials, prominent individuals and activists, it noted.
According to the bureau, the suspects have a direct link with armed force operating in western part of Oromia regional state.
Operations were underway to arrest other suspects, the bureau said, adding it will make public their action and identity soon.
