Ethio-South Korean textile, apparel investment forum held in Addis Ababa
Addis Ababa, December 6, 2018 (FBC) – The 2nd Ethio-South Korean Textile and Apparel Investment Forum was held today in Addis Ababa.
The forum brought together 25 South Korean companies, of which five of them are anchor companies engaged in textile and garment industry and over 50 Ethiopian businesses.
In his opening remarks, State Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Aklilu Hailemichael, said Ethiopia and South Korea have embraced a constantly growing bilateral trade and investment ties.
He urged South Korean companies to seize these opportunities. He also mentioned that over 76 South Korean companies have already secured investment licenses.
Ambassador of Korea to Ethiopia, Ambassador Hoonmin Lim underscored that Ethiopia and Korea have had a strong bilateral cooperation, particularly in areas of trade and investment.
Ethiopia has built several industrial parks, which he said, offered ample opportunities for South Korean companies to invest in textile and garment industry as well as in many other investment sectors.
The Ambassador expressed his country’s readiness to facilitate technology transfers to Ethiopian companies.
The South Korean business delegation has also visited the Adama and Mekelle industrial parks, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
