Transport Minister Dagmawit visits progress of Modjo-Hawassa highway project
Addis Ababa, November 6, 2018 (FBC) –Minister of Transport, Dagmawit Mogess today visited the progress of Modjo-Hawassa highway project.
Taking into consideration its socio-economic importance, the project should be finalized as per scheduled and quality standards, she said.
The Minister further pledged all her office’s support for the project.
The 202-km and 4-lane Modjo-Hawassa highway project is being built at an estimated cost of 14 billion birr.
It is being implemented in four sections- the Modjo-Meki, Meki-Zeway, Zeway-Arsi Negele and Arsi Negele-Hawassa.
The highway will improve the connectivity of high-potential farming and tourism areas, linking a dozen urban centres.
It will also help improve Ethiopia’s transport links to other African countries and ports.
