126th Adwa Victory Day celebrated in Beirut and Juba
Addis Ababa, March 7, 2022 (FBC) – The 126th Anniversary of the Adwa Victory has been celebrated in Ethiopian Consulate in Beirut, Lebanon and Embassy in Juba, South Sudan.
The Consulate in Beirut celebrated the Adwa Victory Day in the presence of members of the Ethiopian community and invited guests.
Consul General Temesgen Omar made a speech at the occasion appreciating the multifaceted contribution of the community to various causes in Ethiopia and calling on them to continue their encouraging deeds.
He further stressed that doing our level best to the success of the GERD flagship project would amount to repeating the proud history of Adwa.
In related story, the Victory Day was celebrated in Ethiopia’s Embassy in Juba in attendance of Ethiopians, business representatives and workers working in the UN institutions.
On the occasion, Ethiopian Ambassador to Sudan, Nebil Mahdi underlined that Ethoipia has defended many external attempts against its sovereignty with sacrifices paid by its brave sons and daughters.
He said that unity and resilience among Ethiopians has helped preserve the sovereignty of the country, adding that the current generation has also fended off external pressures with strong unity, and managed to maintain the pride of the nation.
A paper entitled “Adwa for Ethiopians, Africans and all the Black People across the Globe,” was presented and discussed by participants.
Participants said the Victory of Adwa inspired Africans and others under oppression of colonialists to fight for their freedom and clam their independence.
