: EOTC and Peace Ministry commit to national peace-building initiatives

Addis Ababa, December 24, 2024 (FMC) — The Ministry of Peace (MoP) and the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church (EOTC) expressed their commitment to work closely more than ever in fostering enduring peace in the country.

This commitment was articulated today during a meeting between His Holiness Abune Mathias, Patriarch of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church, and Minister of Peace, Mr. Mohamed Idris, at the Patriarchate Head Office in Addis Ababa.

The Patriarch and the Minister engaged in a discussion on the current peace-building endeavors in the nation and the trajectory ahead.

HH Abune Mathias emphasized that the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church is committed to collaborate assiduously and in close concert with the Ethiopian government in the realm of peace more than ever before.

In response, Mr. Mohamed Idris asked the Church to organize a nationwide peace prayer and further implored the Church to continue its integral role in augmenting the existing peace initiatives, addressing the obstacles to peace, and devising a lasting solutions.
